The Collingwood Dragon Boat and Canoe Club is hosting its third annual open water race for outrigger canoes, kayaks, and surfskis; this race is also part of the Nelo Ontario Surfski Grand Prix.
The cost to enter will be $25 for the open water race, and $15 for the shorter-distance open water race, and a Stand-Up Paddleboard race in Collingwood Harbour. Directions to Collingwood: From the east end of Toronto: 400 north to Barrie; at Bayfield Street exit, head north/west. Turn left at Highway 26, and follow the signs to Collingwood (at Stayner, you'll turn right at the lights at the Esso Station). Once you're in Collingwood, turn right at the first set of lights (Toyota dealership on your right-hand side), and follow that road (Pretty River Parkway) until it comes around a big curve and takes you past Sobey's(on the right). At the first set of lights past Sobey's, turn right (Heritage Drive), and you'll see the boathouse just before the grain elevators... At Hwy. 89 at Primrose (set of lights), turn left toward Shelburne; at the lights just coming into Shelburne (Hwy. 124), turn right. At three-way stop in Singhampton, turn right, and follow the highway into Collingwood. At the northerly end of Hurontario Street (downtown Collingwood), turn right at the lights (Huron Street), and at the first set of lights (Heritage Drive), turn left. CDBCC will be hosting a regatta July 9th for youth and masters sprint canoe and kayak racers from Western Ontario. Races will run from 7:30 am to 4 pm at the Shipyards. Looking for fitness on the water?! The CDBCC Sidelaunchers dragon boat team practices on Wed. and Fri. mornings at 6:15 am and Sun. evening at 6:30. Come on out and give it a try!!

The Collingwood Dragon Boat and Canoe Club will play host to a leg of the Ontario Surfski Grand Prix, part of a series of races taking place this summer across the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa, on Aug. 20, 2011.
